# Interpreting Valuation Outputs

> How to read a Parallax valuation range, what a rating does and does not mean, and how to disagree with the output productively

Parallax reports what the current price appears to require, where independent and market-derived evidence agree, and which assumptions remain open to informed disagreement.

## The Economic Question

How should an investor use a valuation range without confusing it with a forecast?

Markets are exchanges of disagreement. A client may hold an out-of-consensus view about growth, margins, risk or timing. Parallax makes the prevailing logic visible, so that disagreement can be specific, testable and appropriately sized.

## Reading the Range

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Price below the intrinsic range">
    The independent operating case supports upside, subject to the stated falsifiers. Peer and factor evidence can strengthen or complicate the case, but they do not create the intrinsic value.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Price inside the range">
    The market price is consistent with at least part of the operating corridor. The key question becomes which assumptions are priced, and which catalyst could shift them.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Price above the range">
    The market requires a stronger outcome than the independent cases. The reverse DCF makes that required outcome explicit. A high price is not a moral failure, and an investor who accepts the implied expectations may still buy.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Peer range outside the DCF range">
    The market and the operating model disagree. The companion variables and the reverse DCF locate the source of that disagreement.
  </Accordion>

## Ratings and Conviction

A rating summarizes evidence, expected return and risk. It is not a literal instruction to trade.

Strong views require a wider evidence base, a visible margin of safety, and falsifiers that can be monitored. Recent IPOs, reflexive securities and transition companies receive expectations analysis rather than automatic condemnation for limited history or negative near-term cash flow.

<Note>
  Commercial credibility comes from letting the investor inspect the logic. The best explanation does not demand agreement. It makes disagreement more intelligent.
</Note>

## Reconstructing the Result

Without changing any model code, the reader should be able to reproduce the order of magnitude of value from revenue, margin, reinvestment, WACC, terminal growth, net debt and diluted shares.

The reader should also be able to identify why the peer range differs, and which factor or technical observation changes the time horizon.

## Interpretation Note

<Note>
  Parallax relates operating outcomes, market expectations, systematic characteristics and price behavior. Read each result with its assumptions, time horizon and the evidence that would change the conclusion.
</Note>

## When to Reassess

A reader cannot trace the valuation to operating assumptions; an unavailable method is presented as evidence; a rating contradicts the displayed ranges without explanation; or the document hides a material limitation behind a confidence label.

## How Parallax Applies This

Parallax publishes the valuation range, method roles, operating assumptions, peer evidence, factor scores, technical indicators, and reassessment criteria. Readers use this evidence to evaluate the findings independently. This gives readers a basis for comparing the market view with the operating thesis.
